Our Story

A Roadmap for Every Family. Every Path.

College Bound Strategies exists because every family deserves access to the same clear, honest guidance that too few ever receive, before the deadlines hit, before the debt piles up, and before a decision gets made without all the information.

Our Mission

The families who navigate the post-secondary system best aren’t necessarily the most educated or the most affluent — they’re the ones who had access to the right guidance at the right time. They knew someone. They had a counselor who went the extra mile. They stumbled onto the right information.

Most families don’t have that. They’re working through one of the most financially consequential decisions of their lives without a roadmap, without a translator for the jargon, and without anyone who’s been through it sitting across the table from them.

That’s the gap College Bound Strategies was built to close. Not just for families headed to four-year universities, but for every student — the one weighing a trade, considering the military, or thinking about starting a business before they ever set foot in a classroom.

"The goal has never been to push families toward college. It's been to make sure they understand every option — and how to fund whichever one they choose."

Why This Book Exists

The Problem Worth Solving

College Bound Strategies didn’t come from an academic exercise. It came from a real and persistent problem: families making major financial decisions — often involving tens of thousands of dollars of debt — without the information they needed to make them well.

The Information Gap

Financial aid, scholarships, loan types, FAFSA strategy — these systems are genuinely complicated. Families are expected to navigate them cold, often in a matter of months, while managing everything else life requires. Most don’t know what they don’t know until it’s too late.

The College-or-Nothing Myth

For decades, the conversation has defaulted to a single track: get into college, figure out how to pay for it later. But skilled trades are in genuine shortage. Military service offers some of the most powerful education benefits available. Entrepreneurship doesn’t require a degree. These paths deserve equal airtime — and equal guidance.

The Cost of Waiting

The families who struggle most aren’t the ones who made the wrong choice — they’re the ones who made a choice without enough information. Student debt that takes decades to repay. Scholarships missed because no one applied. Benefits left on the table. The best time to build a strategy is before the decision, not after.
